After the Devo-in-a-funhouse vibe of “Our Velocity,” Maxïmo go for deadpan sincerity with “Books From Boxes,” fitting the Our Earthly Pleasure highlight’s straight-shot-from-the-heart-vibe. It’s all very Sixth Sense: four minutes of singing in redhead’s ear gets nary an “I acknowledge you’re alive” look. Equally troubling is that Paul’s girl appears to be hovering. Or possessed of the smoothest gait this side of Dancing With The Stars.

  1. Yeah so…I know people love to hate on this band, but I adore them. Both albums. I like that they are fun, melodic and their songs are catchy as hell…oh and they appear to really enjoy what they do, which is nice.

    *steps off soapbox*

First record was superb, the second is not quite up to that. They’re great live. Miles better than 99% of the bands who record. What’s not to like?

  3. man… for as much as i love this band, *and* this song particularly off the album… this video sucks. =/
