Marilyn Manson has “Eat Me Drink Me” coming out soon. He has lambasted Gerard Way, Lindsey Lohan and purported to have had actual sex with barely legal girlfriend in the video.
Waters may have just as much of a beef with Way about misappropriation, but he lets it go. Popular music is all about misappropriation after all: white boys imitating black blues and r&b stars, Beatles influenced by Beach Boys, millions influenced by Beatles, Pink Floyd influenced by Beatles and MCR influenced by Pink Floyd. Waters proves himself via demeanor and the body of work he leaves behind.
Manson, perhaps all too aware he has built his career on schtick instead of hard work and ideas, has to slam in order to sell. His shell game is that he draws attention to himself, commands you to pick the shell with the ball, but when all is said and revealed you find Manson has no balls at all.
If he had left behind the ghoul-for-hire nonsense and just written an album of great industro-metal tunes, maybe then his protestations would mean something, the surface would be secondary to the indisputable guts of the work. Alas, all shell, no balls.

Wow, a few of you guys really think that MCR is in some way *better* than Marilyn Manson? Mechanical Animals was a concept album about drug addiction. MCR’s attempt at a “concept” album feels forced and fake, like they just wanted to say they made a “concept” album to be cool.
EMDM is fucking awesome. Golden Age I believe was a bit uninspired (though it has one of my favorite songs of his “Spade”), but the new one is a return to form in my opinion. Track 7 and 8 are a bit weak but the rest is top-notch.
I agree with cakes4rockstars, I mean MM actually took the time out to sit down, think about MCR, and write this song about them; if it were me I’d take it as a compliment,- just goes to show how much he cares.

Well every1 has there own opinion, and this being a democracy, i beleive we should ask the masses. Who’s sold more records? my moneys on the antichrist superstar.
So what exactly is he complaining about? He wears a suit and tie and some makeup on his face. Is that like copyrighted by MM? If so there are a lot of people and bands that are going to owe him some money.
MCR with Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge went Double Platinum and Antichrist Superstar went Platinum. Even their rare demo’s and music videos disc Life on the Murder Scene went Gold and their new CD The Black Parade went Platinum. Manson has never gone double and never will.
I love MCR and Manson although he has lost importance over the years but I still in his prime he was the shizz. There is no need to bash other bands just because you don’t like them. Let them do their thing, you do yours.
What I like about Gerard and co. is they are great people and care about the music. I’ve seen them live often. They give you your money’s worth. I also remember going to see them at an Xmas show and one of their relatives died and they couldn’t make it. They did a free make up show about a month later for everyone. They also brought 3 bands with them and made it another awesome concert.
Gerard has gone on to say that he doesn’t like the people that go to his shows and yell “your hot gerard” or go on and on about that aspect. He’s like get a life, it’s about the music. He doesn’t act arrogant at all. He created the CD that he really thought they needed to make and it doesn’t sound like their last one but its not mainstream either. And Cancer is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard in terms of importance and visual imagery.

Marilyn Manson is just ridiculous, heart shaped glasses? Could it be more idiotic? When I was younger back in the time of portrait of an American family I kind thought he had some talent…big mistake. Now he is just trying to escape from his behaviour andropausico.

Marilyn manson teaches people to be themselves, and be unique, and lives up to his title as an artist by taking everyday beliefs, morals, and concepts, and turning them round, and making you question them. He has a very interesting persona, dons wonderful costumes, and is one of the very few men who look good in makeup. He is fantasticly down to earth in interviews, often making the negative sides come out in interviewers to try and get him worked up. He produces great music, and each song has a POINT. My Chemical romance would be even worse if they weren’t trying to copy him.

In a recent interview, they supported manson, and confirmed the only thing he “ripped off” them, was the whole stilts thing. They have no real beef with him at all.
I don’t think Alice cooper would be laughing at this either, since Manson cites everyone that has inspired him, while MCR just takes it without giving credit.

In my opinion, Marilyn manson Is a freak. He puts sick things, like drugs, sex, and violence in to the minds of anyone who listens to him. So what If Gerard wears a similar suit and tie? Is it the end of the world? No. It SHOULD be about music, and mcr shouds nothing at all like mcr. And Gerard handled all this like a mature person, unlike MM’s 6 year old, attention seeking behavior.
Its not just because I love mcr, but its becasue its clear how dumb this is.
I personally think hes just trying to stir up publicity for his new album because he knows the majority of his original fans are unsatisfied with the current rock scene, probably hate MCR, and not to mention a lot of the newer bands come from a different generation. Its a shame Manson’s fans don’t pick up on the marketing. Not a bad marketing ploy if you ask me. If Manson had said that stuff about a band you had never heard of, this would have never even been read on the internet. Not a fan boy of either bands, just using some common sense.

The album Eat me, Drink me wasn’t even that good. If you want to hear Manson in his prime, get the albums Antichrist Superstar and Holy Wood. But you need a brain cell to understand what he is saying. Just because you don’t understand, doesn’t mean it doesn’t make sense.
