As we’ve heard from places like The New Yorker, NYTimes, and everywhere in between, the reactivated Swans are a powerhouse and a near religious live force. I spoke about this firsthand when recapping the 10/8 Brooklyn Masonic Temple show Haunting The Chapel co-organized. Not just that, the new album My Father Will Guide Me Up A Rope To The Sky is a great one, better than maybe anyone could have hoped/imagined. All more than enough reason to extend the tour, which is just what Michael Gira & Co. have done. Take a look at the expanded itinerary that takes us deep into 2011. The old dates stop after 12/13 in Germany. The new ones pick up in February in Austin. Wooden Wand, who’s also back in finest form, is opening the new US shows.

My Father Will Guide Me Up A Rope To The Sky is out now via Young God. Listen to “Eden Prison,” if you haven’t. And if you need more convincing, here’s a clip of the band doing “I Crawled” at Lee’s Palace, Toronto:

…AND props to Brandon for getting a shoutout in the liner notes of the LP (!)
then a number for me too, they are the icons of dirty guitars and heavy music
Come back to New York CIty!
…AND props to Scott for giving props to Brandon for getting a shoutout in the liner notes of the LP. :-)
Amazingly, the curtain doesn’t come down on the tour in Slovenia on the 24th. Following an appearance at Primavera Sound in Barcelona – May 28 – and a well-deserved “holiday” leading into the Portishead festival in London on July 24 …
they return yet again to the States for the following shows: 9/8 – Baltimore, 9/10 – Asheville, NC, 9/11 – Charlotte, NC, 9/14 – West Palm Beach, 9/15 – Tallahassee, 9/16 – Atlanta, 9/17 – Nashville, 9/20 – Minneapolis, 9/21 – Milwaukee, 9/22 – Chicago (@ the Bottom Lounge, where they altered my DNA as the tour was in it’s infancy) 9/23 – Cleveland, 9/24 – Lexington, 9/27 – Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY, US, 9/29 – Boston and concluding with the Portishead festival in Asbury Park.
