Yeah you’ve loved/hated this track for over a year now, but it’s never too late for a director’s cut vid! Decent sized budget, we’d say; that boxing footage looks stock, but soon enough the ringside folks start singing “put out the fire boys…” Wife beaters, straw hats, and a tale of two friends settling shit in a ring … to the death! Maybe. Oh and the “story” is in black-and-white. That’s how you know it’s dramatic.

Holy edit choppiness. It’s like an Abercrombie & Fitch ad inspired by Raging Bull….or Brokeback Mountain…or Wonder Years? Not quite sure which.
people loved this?
i really don’t get how anyone could hate this band.
agreed. i honestly don’t understand the hate. this is a great song.
great band, great song, shit video.
they were insane when i saw them with tokyo police club and delta spirit in dc…especially the all band jamboree during “st. john”
soooo good, the song. I think this is their second video, I saw another one.
I completely agree with JDubs. I was at the same show and the collaboration between the 3 bands was awesome. Definitely the high point of the show.
@Jdubs: completely agree. I was at their tallahassee show, and St. John was amazing. Hospital Beds was pretty good live too.
other than that, I can’t stop staring at Nathan’s bad farmers tan in the vid.
They need to just let their songs tell the stories. They don’t need any of that additional Hollywoodishness. Just one good performance video would make me happy. I love the band but this video is mediocre at best.
Nice new videoclip!
The video was too busy and hard to follow. There were three different stories running together under a song whose story that didn’t relate to any of them. It’s a great song though. I love the video for “Hang me up to Dry”.
I’m afraid the band may not have staying power though, but we will see.
the boxing footage looked great. why did they have to tell the story with all that other crappy-looking stuff?
singer is goddawful.
the song is about two people in a hospital room sharing memories and stories. the video is a perfect illustration.
these dudes are so nice and a breeze to work with.
Am I the only person that doesn’t think these guys are a hair away from ripping off The Walkmen?
They sound similar to the Walkmen, but I wouldn’t say that is “ripping them off”. I agree though. I like The Walkmen a lot more than Cold War Kids, but I like them for the same reasons.
i hear the walkmen with a little jack white in the mix…
yeah but it’s too bad that the white rabbits are ripping off cold war kids. yikes.
ps. i like the white rabbits
I think if 8 Mile was attempted to be done Jean Luc Godard style, it’d look something like this mess… love the song as well as the Cold War Kids though
