It’s unclear if 21-year-old Pittsburgh-to-New York cemetery worker/warped bedroom-pop alchemist Chris Laufman’s Wise Blood project is referencing J.G. “Foetus” Thirlwell’s classic NY noise-rock band Wiseblood, the Corrosion Of Conformity album, Flannery O’Connor’s first novel/the film it inspired, or none of the above. Whatever the case, he’s generating a ton of “buzz” and managed to convince well-dressed Guinness heiress Daphne Guinness to show up in this vaguely NSFW David Parker-directed video for “B.I.G. E.G.O.” (Maybe Kid Cudi introduced them.) Watch:

This past summer Wise Blood released the free + EP. He just signed with Dovecote for an early 2011 EP that will presumably cost money. Here’s the first single, “Loud Mouths.” (RIYL Queen, Saturday Night Fever, 2010 bands who chop and screw those sorts of things.)

Go backwards via the older Transparent-imprinted “Solo (’4′ Claire)” b/w “Rot My Brain Away” 7”:
