Forget Arcade Fire, the Besnard Lakes, Feist, and Chad VanGaalen — a lot of you seem to think this year’s Polaris Prize belongs to Patrick Watson’s Close To Paradise. Patrick’s new clip sees the unabashedly Buckley-ish lush pop of “Luscious Life” paired with scratchy/flickering animation of a purging mind explosion, bookended by starry trips through the cosmos. Our cartoony hero has a moment of clarity! Behold, the illuminating power of caterwauling in 7/8.
