The chance convergence of Jell-O, a one-eyed dog, some hairy dude in American-flag speedos, and a bikini-clad Stacy’s grandmom with a bee and a coffee-sipping crane operator is, all at the same time, one hell of a specialty porno, a recipe for disaster, and the Shins new video for “Turn On Me.” Last time Braff’s boys were all about balloon-toting, quasi-criminal hijinks in the name of “Australia“, this time it’s a lazy day at the pool interrupted by a falling piano.

See who gets squashed after the jump.

Poor doggie. That’s the least of it, though — some of the extreme closeups had us wincing the day away.

    what a boring video

  8. the american flag will haunt me forever from now on. but i must admit, that cyclops dog looked pretty adorable with the jello hanging off of its face. but still, the old lady lubing up her wrinkled body gave me the heeby jeebies. oh and the video was pretty darn boring…

Um…I probably should just enjoy it as it is, but did anyone else think the piano falling was a bit anticlimactic!

Looks like they dropped it from about five feet about the camera’s view.

I was hoping to see shards of piano keys, wood and dog landing in the pool?

Maybe it was some sort of artistic license- but if you ask me…they should have dropped it from higher up.

The close-ups were well done and completely awkward. A feeling that I rarely get. So well done there.

  11. Looks like it would if David Lynch directed an episode of Six Feet Under. Not necessarily a compliment.

i love this song. the lyrics…fantastic.
    but this video…
honestly, how bored, how jaded must they be to put out this shite?
    awful awful awful.
it’s like they’re not even trying.

First of all: “Braff’s boys”?!?! Fuck you man. Seriously. When will be the day that this amazing band can be written about without mentioning Garden State!? Give them some fucking credit!

Second of all: “Amit,” tits are tits, bro. tits are tits.

Third of all: “I was hoping to see shards of piano keys, wood and dog landing in the pool?”

    You raise an interesting question…

    great song, shit video

  16. who knew that summer + closeups yielded such disturbing imagery?

  17. Lovely tune… I wish I could understand what he’s singing. It’s a talent, especially when a band plays live, and I envy anyone who can pull it off, especially when the speakers are a microwatt from exploding and the soundguy has his hand down his pants.

  18. Bribo  |   Posted on Aug 14th, 2007

It’s symbolic. The doggie represents sharing.

  19. if you really understood the song then you would understand the video. if you have been with this woman you would see her at the pool.

  20. I was really hoping to see a disclaimer at the end: “No cute one-eyed dogs were harmed in the making of this video.”
