Hear The Live Online Archives Of Brooklyn Venue Shea Stadium

Consider it the Wolfgang’s Vault for the post-Duane Reade on Bedford Ave. set. Shea Stadium — obviously not that one, but the performance space located in what realtors call “East Williamsburg” and realists acknowledge is Bushwick, typically books from an off-beat roll call of troupes (think Excepter, Liturgy, Magik Markers, Phone Tag, or James Ferraro, and on to the Screaming Females, with a strong showing of hazed blog-pop types like Ducktails, Porcelain Raft, How To Dress Well, Juilan Lynch, Wild Nothing, Small Black and an abundant et ceteras). The venue, created by promoter Adam Reich and the band the So So Glos, also doubles as a recording studio. Armed with foresight and a soundcloud account, they’ve captured and now posted bits from most every live set in Shea’s relatively brief history. So far it’s “standout tracks and full sets from 134 bands” over the past two years, with “much more to come as the year goes on.” Decide whether your favorite ascendant outsider is worth the $8 cover at your local DIY space by digging in at liveatsheastadium.com, featuring sets from all the aforementioned acts and a ton more you’ve never heard of.
