No longer just a tease: Wayne Coyne and Neon Indian’s Alan Palomo have been hinting at a collaboration between their bands over Twitter, and it looks like the two got together over this snowy weekend in New York to work on some songs. Their collaboration is part of the Flaming Lips’ plans to release a new song every month in 2011. Ariel Pink and Deerhoof are also on the list of potential collaborators, but timing, location, and demos lined up for the Neon Indian pairing right away. Coyne told Spin: “We’re going to do two or three songs with him and that shit should be ready to go pretty quickly. I have a couple of tunes that he’s heard and we’ll just do that shit and fix that up and fuck around together.” According to Coyne’s Twitter account, one of those songs is called “To Understand You and Then Destroy You.” He posted a video demo earlier this month. See the demo below, plus some addition weekend video of “Dude from Neon Indian” on acid (via Coyne) and the pair working on noise sweeps (via Neon Indian):

“To Understand You and Then Destroy you… Possible Neon Indian collaboration”

“Dude from Neon Indian is on acid…wicked…!!!”

“Song is sounding eerie, heavy, sad…weird line..’take your pussy high see how bright it shines’

“Noise Sweep-Off With Wayne”

“Wayne boards master control.”

  1. I’m very thrilled for this!

  2. the “take your pussy high” song sounds cheesy. I hope they put out some catchy shit…. Like Neon Indian meets Flaming Lips kind of stuff…? Not a mess of barely musical noises and silly lyrics. Still fuckin pumped though!
