The Happy Hollows

Los Angeles Smashing Pumpkins devotees Silversun Pickups are back with a new album (still streaming), video, and slate of festival appearances for the quickly coming summer. There are sure to be more dates announced, but for now their only scheduled club appearance went down last night, ostensibly a tune up for their set at Coachella later this week. The LA-heavy lineup last night also featured the Deadly Syndrome and local faves the Happy Hollows, all of whom were caught by the lens of Andrew Youssef. Enjoy his photos, or just enjoy the TwitPic of the crowd at SSPU’s Twitter page. Also worth noting: concession was selling a $95 limited edition version of Swoon with LP/cd/stickers/lyric sheets, and photos. So you know, there’s money to be made in music yet. Silversun’s festival sched:

04/17 – Indio, CA (Coachella)
05/25 – George, WA (Sasquatch!)
08/02 – Jersey City, NJ (All Points West)

Swoon is out tomorrow via Dangerbird.

For pete’s sake, SSPU are hardly Smashing Pumpkins-ish. Get a clue, Stereogum!

  2. Are you dense? Silversun Pickups have the shoegaze sound that totally encompassed the Smashing Pumpkins earlier work. Denying that is just dumb.

You act like its a bad thing. Early 90′s Pumpkins is some of the best music ever recorded and I don’t think they mind being compared to it. In fact I am glad they sound like old Pumpkins, because SP used to be my favorite band and now that it is Billy Corgans shitty solo project, it is nice to still have new music that reminds me of that style.

  3. I just want to comment the artist! He is really cute in his guitar! I really love to know on how to play guitar I know some basic but I want to be very good on it! Chill guys this things don’t need to be issue. Lets just support the band.
