Just when you thought the Boy Least Likely To couldn’t be any more twee. The Jayne Vidheecharoen directed video for “When Life Gives Me Lemons I Make Lemonade” is so sweet as fuck it almost hurts. A little knitted bird puppet with button eyes makes friends with a cute apple with eyes the same, and after they meet some mean looking lemons the bird flies through the skies and knocks the clouds for water. That’s when the title of the track happens. The little apple dude falls and dies but apples make for good juices, too.

There are two other TBLLT vids of late: “The First Snowflake” and a “A Balloon On A Broken String.” Neither involve transubstantiating mortal coils into delicious liquids.

Law Of The Playground is out in the UK via Too Young To Die and in the US on +1.

Whatever the hell mutant supertwee this is, nobody does it better than TBLLT. I still find myself whistling “Be Gentle With Me” from, what, 4 years ago?
