Baths Cover LCD Soundsystem

The A.V. Club’s Undercover series has a new list of 25 songs for this fresh round of covers. Baths’ Will Wiesenfeld chose LCD Soundsystem’s “All My Friends.” It’s a smart choice because it’s a great and challenging song, and because some of the other choices (i.e., “Tubthumping”) are going to be hard to cover without laughing. Baths uses a piano for his minimalist take, and he has one-half of secretive duo Houses provide some percussion. Watch:

  1. I’d debate calling it a good choice. To me, it seems like a very difficult song to cover well (his was okay, but ultimately forgettable; then again, what I like most about Baths are the beats, and there weren’t many of those here) and even if Tubthumping is also there, that list has a bunch of really good songs as well.

Anyway, the next two covers (“Fell in Love with a Girl” and “Africa”) should be really interesting, and I can’t wait to see the Titus Andronicus video.

  2. Yeah, most of the songs are excellent choices, I just thought including Tubthumping was funny. I do like that Baths covered the video version and focused on the verses, which are excellent but get forgotten because people love that crescendo so much.
