Maybe TV On The Radio’s Nine Types Of Light is so romantically mellow because Jane’s Addiction bassist Dave Sitek was putting the energized part of his backbone into Perry Farrell & Co’s The Great Escape Artist. While in town to promote Lollapalooza Chile, Farrell premiered “End To The Lies” on the Chilean radio station Radio Futuro’s “La Ley Del Rock” program. Now we have the album version sans DJ voice over. The song’s not at all bad for Jane’s Addiction 2011. And Sitek’s thumbprints are all over it.

The Great Escape Artist is due this summer. It’s JA’s first since 2003′s Strays.

Sounds pretty good to me, though the Jane’s bar is so low right now that it doesn’t take a lot to clear it.
This is pretty alright, actually kinda interested in hearing more from this now
this is definitely a sitek production, and i can’t think of many other producers to compare him to these days except maybe kanye, but goddamn it’s good to hear navarro play guitar again
@rob re sitek: he’s definitely on a Dave Fridmann-esque roll
Kinda disappointed the radio DJ didn’t refer to them as “Juana’s Addiction”
(Excellent song)
It’s nice to hear Jane’s Addiction not trying to be too numetal like on Strays, and Sitek’s sheen does them good, but they still have completely lost what they used to have.
And is it just me or does Perry sound more like Mike Muir than ever?
Dave Navarro is a bit too far back in the mix. Most of what i love about Jane’s is Dave’s in your face guitar (read: ocean size)
