My Morning Jacket Circuital

My Morning Jacket has been giving away live tracks from their Terminal 5 residency for the last few weeks. They’re ending the parade of free songs with one studio track today, the title song from their upcoming album Circuital. “Circuital” was described as one of the “epic, slow-building jams” on the new record in Cole’s Progress Report. The seven-minute song begins with an easy guitar hook that might remind you of “Float On” just a little bit. To me it doesn’t build up as much as string together several hooks over time. 1. this is seriously one of the best songs they’ve ever written – glad to hear them return to form

  2. I seriously disagree with all the love for this song. As a huge MMJ fan I so desperately wanted to like this song but it just lacks that raw passion/emotion that most other MMJ songs have. Its as if they don’t really get into the song until its halfway over. I guess my main problem is that the intro and outro are too minimalistic for their jam band sensibilities. If anything you hear them breaking form. Hopefully the album is a lot better.
