Titus Andronicus - "No Future Part Three: Escape From No Future" Video

When we posted footage of Titus Andronicus covering They Might Be Giants, I mentioned a potentially more triumphant moment, the New Jersey-focused video for The Monitor’s “No Future Part Three: Escape From No Future.” The Tom Scharpling-directed clip’s premiering across the Garden State today. (If you recall that previously quoted press release, “all Jersey residents, publications, websites, and institutions public or private” were invited to email the band or the band’s label who’d set them up with a “DVD, QuickTime file, embed code.”) The video opens up with the band in the Pine Barrens, aka the forests where I grew up, before heading to Lakewood, Asbury Park, New Brunswick, and Jersey City. Even if you’ve never lived in Jersey, picked blueberries throughout your adolescence a mile from the trees at the start, attended/booked a thousand New Brunswick basement shows in college, or etc., you should enjoy the honest pride of place.

The Monitor is out via XL. This is the list of the NJ residents who hosted/are hosting the premiere.

  1. they covered “oh bondage up yours!” in DC a few nights back, here’s a video I took of it http://goo.gl/IpyWJ

  2. the intro alone was better than most things i’ve seen all year. awesome.

  3. new jersey looks fucking retarded

  4. It was a good idea for a video but I learned absolutely nothing about New Jersey. Well, that’s not totally true. I did learn that the band’s family, friends and fans live there. But that’s it.
