In Solitude - The World, The Flesh, The Devil

In Solitude’s young fox fur-wearing frontman Pelle “Hornper” Åhman doesn’t slather as much facepaint as fellow satanic Swedes Ghost, but his Uppsala-based quintet’s second (and best) full-length The World, The Flesh, The Devil should be equally — if not more — appealing to fans of Mercyful Fate. (Of course, In Solitude’s more classic cult metal than the poppy Ghost, so Maiden followers should perk up their ears, too.) The perfect-for-summer collection of eight vintage-sounding headbangers was produced by former Dismember drummer Fred Estby at Nicke Andersson’s new Stockholm studio, Gutterview Recorders: Admire the organic sound and twin guitar assault of the opening title track.

The tracklist:

01 “The World, The Flesh, The Devil”
02 “We Were Never Here”
03 “Serpents Are Rising”
04 “Poisoned, Blessed, and Burned”
05 “Demons”
06 “To Her Darkness”
07 “Dance of the Adversary”
08 “On Burning Paths”

Here’s the first single, “Serpents Are Rising”:

The World, The Flesh, The Devil is out 5/24 via Metal Blade. You can pre-order it now. The band’s playing their first US show 5/28 at Maryland Death Fest.

  1. Really digging the old Maiden sound. Great interplay between the guitars and a punishing rhythm section.
