Julian Casablancas Covers Buddy Holly

When you stop and think about all the great songs Buddy Holly wrote, it’s crazy to remember he died in that plane crash when he was 22. (Hurry up, Tyler.) If he’d lived, he would’ve been 75 this year. As a tribute/memorial, Paul McCartney, My Morning Jacket, Cee Lo Green, Lou Reed, the Black Keys, Modest Mouse, Graham Nash, She & Him, Patti Smith, Kid Rock (of course), and others contribute to the 19-song covers compilation Rave On Buddy Holly. Here’s Julian Casablancas’ contribution along with the tracklist:

  1. i think it could use a little more delay effect…;p but seriously, it kind of sounds like a mess. i can go back and forth on it….would’ve sounded better with the strokes i think

    • The fuzz sounds awesome, and there is no such thing as too much delay. I would buy an album of solo Julian material if it sounded like this.

  2. How do so many shitty acts always end up getting lumped onto these comps?

  3. Man I’m impressed with this informative blog, and in fact you have a genius mind. keep up the good work. This is really nice info. Thanks for such a wonderful post.
