Handsome Furs - Sound Kapital

“Repatriated” follows “What About Us” in the roll-out of Handsome Furs’ third album Sound Kapital, the first HF collection written entirely on keyboards. It’s not the first bearing sexy photos, but as far as I can tell, it is the first featuring actual fur.

Sound Kapital is out 6/28 via Sub Pop.

  1. It’s interesting that Dan and Spencer released songs on the same day. The paths they’ve gone down the last few years are pretty different. Dan is really pretty deep into this “write songs that could play at the end of a John Hughes movie” mode, while Spencer has been all over the place (and sounds like he’s only going to get more varied with Moonface).

I love both of them and enjoy pretty much all of their output, but, man, “Apologies to the Queen Mary” cannot be beat.

  2. I’m with you Kafka. The John Hughes reference is spot on. I like the faux-communist/political themes happening in everything from their artwork (see: the very RED cover to Face Control) to their song/album titles (“Radio Kalinngrad” “Repatriated” Sound Kapital).

    Good stuff!
