Chelsea Wolfe 2011

We called Burzum-covering, PJ Harvey-evoking “doom-folk” chanteuse Chelsea Wolfe someone to watch in 2011. Please do: In August, the Californian’s following 2010′s excellent homespun The Grime And The Glow with the even stronger studio-recorded Ἀποκάλυψις (pronounced “apokalypsis”). Here’s the album’s second track, “Mer.”

Ἀποκάλυψις:

01 “Primal // Carnal”
02 “Mer”
03 “Tracks (Tall Bodies)”
04 “Demons”
05 “The Wasteland”
06 “Moses”
07 “Friedrichshain”
08 “Pale on Pale”
09 “To The Forest, Towards The Sea”
10 “Movie Screen”

Ἀποκάλυψις is out 8/23 via Pendu Sound. You can also hear Wolfe’s “Moses” in Richard Phillips’ Sasha Grey, from the series that gave us Lindsay Lohan. (Of course, Grey is Wolfe’s labelmate, too.)

  1. Great track! And is it just me, or does the opening guitar part bear an uncanny resemblance to the beginning of this song… http://honorableworm.bandcamp.com/track/sometimes

  2. that sasha grey video is like the most fucking obnoxious thing. I love chelsea wolfe and the song is great, but they’re acting like it’s some sort of high art short film. it’s just a glorified music video.
