We’re enjoying the heavy helpings of dark psychedelics and Jesus And Mary Chain fuzz served up on the Raveonettes Lust Lust Lust. Last week we debuted the crackling “Aly, Walk With Me” as a part of the ’Gum Drop. Multi-instrumental guitarist and co-vocalist Sune Rose Wagner shed some light on the tune for us:

Aly is a girl I started writing with a long time ago and we developed this strange long-distance “relationship,” which was very powerful. I wrote the song about her ’cause I used to dream up all these scenarios about how or where we would first meet when that beautiful day would finally come. It turned out our first meeting was in New York City, just like the song.

You can hear the Aly-lusting tune here. Now we’re hearing some spectors of Ronnie and various dusky girl groups dancing amid the guitar bursts on “Dead Sound.”

The Danish duo really have nailed it — those chimes, heart-y pulses, guitar sound, poppy harmonies, etc. Lust Lust Lust, Wagner and Sharin Foo’s Vice-debuting follow-up to 2005′s Pretty In Black will be out sometime in early 2008. Rave on.

  1. I’m surprised there wasn’t a Tori Amos reference in this post, given Wagner’s imaginary friend (Aly).
“Dead Sound” is a good song though (didn’t get into the “Aly” song as much).

  2. Yay, I love the Raveonettes so much! Lust^3 is wicked good.
