Morrissey and a cat

In advance of a European tour that kicks off in Perth tomorrow, Morrissey and band performed three songs from his next album on BBC Radio 2 earlier tonight. Last month he wrote on his site that the LP, his tenth solo, was finished but did not have a label (“My talents do not lie in DIY”). The tracks recall classic Moz, and of these three the rousing “People Are The Same Everywhere” bears the most potential as a single to my ears. Take a listen while you peruse the Internet’s ten best photos of Morrissey and a cat.

  1. good stuff. like it more than his years of refusal material.

  2. These are some good rockin’ tunes. Morrissey’s still got it! I love that there are so many older rockers who have recently released some of the best material of their careers like Peter Murphy(who released ‘Ninth’ just last week), Gang Of Four and Wire.

  3. Sorry- I love Morrissey. Even the last few albums. These songs are lazily awful.

  4. His new songs are fantastic.
He never fails to deliver, his new songs are very typically Moz, which is obviously a good thing…
I couldn’t be happier with them!

  5. I thought these songs were decent upon first listening. Looking forward to a new album by Morrissey. Hopefully a label will pick him up and it won’t be too long.

i was going to leave you a snarky comment along the lines of ‘if you don’t have speedway on that list…’ but hey, # 2, way to go.
