Well it’s come down to this. It’s our own private Iowa and our election day, all rolled into one: The next 24 hours are the last you’ll have to nominate (i.e. vote) in this year’s Gummy Awards. (Look it even has a url! So you know it’s official.) We’re not supposed to hint at standings ’til results day, but you know that album you thought was a lock? You know, that one? Turns out it’s not! Change that. Extra spice to the sauce: One member of the electorate will be randomly selected to take home the Top 50 CDs as chosen by the voting public, courtesy of Other Music.

Polls close at 6PM EST 12/6 (tomorrow!).

Vote here.

  1. You mean the new Seether album ISN’T going to be #1? Well I just lost a lot of money on that one…

  2. Judging by the top 50 lists we’ve seen so far this year from the music rags, I can definitively say that I would have no damn clue what would be a lock for best album. (Although at least one of my nominations got stolen out of my car this morning.)

I think Boxer was “the lock.” Going through my own personal favorite records of the year, I think 2007 was a better year for music than 2006 was. Sure, this year was certainly marred by some major disappointments by some of the larger, more established acts, but overall, a very good year nontheless.

I can’t fucking believe Spoon is going to win album of the year. So lame.

Oh blow it out your ass Matt Berninger. You negative Nancy. I’ll pick Spoon over whatever bullshit you’ve got in mind for #1 any day of the week.

with all the chaos that has been caused by posting other sites top 50 lists, i cant wait to see the madness that hits when this list comes out.

    Vote Beirut, I did.

  8. even though i voted already, I’ not finished setting up my personal top 10, Spoon’s album gets better with every listen, i didn’t vote for it in the top 3 but it might make it to No. 1 by the time I finish editing my list.
