A weird but interesting mix of performers at this year’s Wireless Festival in London’s Hyde Park: Battles, Bruno Mars, Yuck, Black Eyed Peas, Rocky Erickson, Tinie Tempah, Ke$ha, the Hives, Janelle Monae, Grace Jones, the Chemical Brothers, and the Horrors all performed, and those were just the bands that didn’t include any cast members of Gossip Girl. (Nice boots, Taylor Momsen. You are definitely not trying too hard.) Pixie Geldof, Gizzi Erskine, Alexa Chung, and other stylish gals who are only famous in the UK hung out in the VIP area, along with Prince Harry who my sources tell me was not the royal who recently married (research!). Pulp closed out the festivities with “Common People” before Jarvis Cocker told the crowd, “Christmas just came early. See you all again… in about 15 years probably.” So don’t hold your breath for a new Pulp album. Celebrate America’s independence by viewing photos of all the aforementioned performances in the gallery above.
