The Horrors – “Still Life” Video
On their dramatic right turn of a second LP Primary Colours, the Horrors ditched their titular spook-and-gloom garage rock for a mesh of crate-digging indie that recalled shoegazers like MBV and JAMC, grandiose new wave ala Psychedelic Furs, even a motorik detour by way of Can. You’ve had a chance to hear where they’ve fixed their stylistic locus for their third LP with the full stream of their forthcoming Skying we posted, but lead single “Still Life” is still the early standout and one of the year’s more memorable singles, dropping pointedly in the John Hughes soundtrack/Tears For Fears bucket of widescreen ’80s synth-pop. Now it has a video, very psychedelic in its colors and effects (no furs, alas), sorta new romantic in its attire, and otherwise looking on point for the way “Still Life” sounds.
The Horrors’ Skying is out 7/26 via XL.
