This live footage of Jesy Fortino strumming and singing through “On This Side,” a song from last year’s much overlooked Hands Across The Void, is a part of the documentary Burn To Shine 4: Seattle. If you’re familiar with her past performances, you won’t be surprised to find Fortino transfixed throughout, not really paying attention to anything but the song-at-hand. That said, while there’s some through-the-glass shooting and a few shadows, this footage is much less veiled than her construction site/alley Take Away. Speaking of which, take it away, Jesy.

The Seattle section of Burn To Shine also featuring Minus The Bear, the Long Winters, Ben Gibbard, Eddie Vedder, David Bazan, and Jesse Sykes, among others. Get more info about it and the series in general here If you missed Burn To Shine 3: Portland, you can watch the Shins, the Gossip, etc., in a Chris Funk house party at here. Right, the Shins.

  1. Any word on when this is coming out? It’s seems like it’s been “coming soon” forever. I hope to see it soon, and am keeping my fingers crossed that the Louisville edition doesn’t take as long for release (though it’s already filmed, so that’s a plus).

Great clip by the way, and I agree that the Tiny Vipers record was an overlooked gem of 2007.

  2. it’s a shame “hands across the void” was so overlooked, too, because it’s really one of the best records to come out last year, if not THE best. oh, but that’s sort of a biased statement, especially from someone who has a tag called “tiny vipers superfandom” on his blog.

yeah, i’ve been waiting for “burn to shine: seattle” to come out forever, as well. is the atlanta one even out, yet?
