Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - "Maniac"

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah played a small, secret show at Brooklyn’s Littlefield on Friday night. I didn’t go because it was 150°, but if I did I would’ve been happy to hear “Maniac,” this punchy new wave taste of Hysterical, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah’s forthcoming John Congleton-produced third LP.

Download it for the price of an e-mail address…

…and grab “Same Mistake” too if you haven’t yet.

Hysterical will be self-released in the states (and licensed to V2 overseas) 9/12.

  1. It sounds exactly like…. can’t put my finger on it… Vampire Weekend maybe?

  2. I’m glad they’re sticking to the awkward looking people themed album covers. I also enjoyed this a lot, but feel as though it would sound better within the context of the album.

  3. Im so glad these guys are back! And no, they don’t sound like vampire weekend. They also pre-date vampire weekend, and are way more creative and have always been more eclectic.

This actually sounds more like Uninhabitable Mansions (members of CYHSY & Au Revoir Simone) then Clap’s “some loud thunder”, it also seems like they’ve been listening to some Fresh And Only’s for inspiration, which is definitely a good thing.

Also, wow, alex must have decided to take it a little easier on his vocal chords! The eclectic, twisted (but amazing) vocals from the first album have definitely been “simmered down” a bit.

Can’t wait to hear the new album!

Until the record drops, if you guys haven’t heard Uninhabitable Mansions, definitely check them out, theyre the best spazzy indiepop band you’ll ever hear.

This is U.M’s record from 2009 “Nature is a taker:
