During the last 10 or so years Luna has knocked out a half dozen critically lauded, commercially neglected albums that sound as if they all could have originated from the same jam session. That’s not a dis — they’ve just got a consistently woozy jangle-pop sound. Anyway Romantica is one of my faves. Dean Wareham’s voice is unremarkable, but it rides catchy melodies. And this is one of the catchiest songs the band has ever recorded, perfect for your Wednesday morning.

And yes, that is Jem on bass! Very observant of you.

  1. I’m partial to that Luna Live cd. That version of “4th of July” is sublime.

  2. I love their cover of Bonnie & Clyde too!

    So Best!

  4. For my money, Britta and Dean’s collaboration L’Avventura is the coolest thing those two have done recently. Romantica is good, but L’Avventura has Britta at her sultry chanteuse best.

  5. I swear I recently heard “Night Nurse” in a commercial.

  6. Since commercials seem to be a great place to find good music these days (example: Pas/Cal on a Saturn commercial), it wouldn’t be surprising.

Hell, of The Dining Rooms can show up on Six Feet Under, anything is possible.

I am much more about the Black Postcards these days. Serious summertime chillin music…

  8. Truly outrageous. Truly, truly, truly outrageous. Oh oh oh.

  9. Have any of you seen the Galaxie 500 DVD yet. I’m sure it’s worth getting. Never got a chance to see them, but have seen Luna three times. All quite good. Anyway, would like any input on the dvd.
