One of many highlights from German IDM outfit Modeselektor’s excellent Happy Birthday LP was “White Flash,” fronted by Thom Yorke, a ricocheting dance track that squared nicely with the Radiohead singer’s then-burgeoning, Eraser-era interest in dank and cavernous, techno-tipping electronic sounds. It was pretty common around then to see Thom sporting a Modeselektor tee, too (see: above at Lollapalooza, 2008). Four years later Thom’s fixation on beat-based music is a given, and he’s reupping on that fruitful collab with Modeselektor in the form of two new tracks, titled “Shipwreck” and “This,” from Modeselektor’s new album Monkeytown.
