After hints and clues, Bonnaroo’s 2008 lineup’s been announced. They’ve confirmed Lez Zeppelin, but not Led Zeppelin. Though Robert Plant will show up to shuffle along with Alison Krauss. In their seventh year, Bonnaroo’s also bringing the aging thrash of Metallica (along with the younger crush of Mastodon) and the AT&T loving EdVed and his Pearl Jam to the Manchester, TN farm. Jack Johnson’s playing this one, too. Break out the greens. Which you’ll need to save for Willie “Twin Towers Imploded” Nelson. There are also some big ’07 critical and fan faves like M.I.A., Against Me!, and Kanye and ’08 upstarts Vampire Weekend. All said, over 100 bands, more than 20 comedians, across 13 stages for four days (June 12-15) … and, one silent disco. You do the math. Full lineup (as it stands) after the jump.

    well that’s very disappointing

NME’s saying Led Zeppelin’s playing. I’d lol if they misread it as Lez Zeppelin.

  4. Colin  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

Well, if Led Zeppelin is playing, they should tell the Bonnaroo people:

  5. Melissa  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

That was a rumor from December. They are not playing Bonnaroo.

    There you go.

  6. Melissa  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

Well, now that I see the AP article, I am getting a headache. Why are they not listed on the damn lineup? Ughhh, this is confusing.

  7. It was confirmed by NME who said earlier in the day they were making a major announcement at Midnight.

If they’re wrong, then I’ll remove this:

    Shiiiit’s weak

  9. JoeyT  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

Weak Bonnaroo. Better good ahead and book Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin.

  10. brent  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

    sounds good to me

  11. seriously!  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

so i guess this means MBV and radiohead are playing lolla. WOOTY WOOT WOOT!!!!

  12. ben  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

Everyones saying this is weak, looks pretty sweet to me. Sure there aren’t 500 indie acts to choose from, but jack johnson headline fits perfect for leaving early to see mmj. Can basically see random cool shit or huuuuge headliners that would cost more to see alone than the bonnaroo ticket.

  13. matt  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

looks great to me, i’m really excited!

  14. Everyone is changing their headlines, and so am I. It sounded too good to be true, didn’t it?

  15. DS48  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

This HAS to be all NME’s fault, right?

  16. They built it up so heavily that it has to be their fault. It’s like, seriously: FUCK YOU NME. Nothing wrong with Pearl Jam et. al., but for them to build it up like this only to be wrong….I mean, how do you fuck that up when you have ALL DAY to confirm it?

  17. Lovelee Buttons  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

Better than Coachella. But, Jack Johnson again? Please no.

  18. Greg  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

I wonder if that is Broken Social Scene or Broken Social Scene presents….

If so, it would be nice to see them all on the same stage again, like Lolla in 2006.

All in all, not a bad lineup. Looking forward to Sigur Ros and MMJ considering a new album will be out by then. MIA, MGMT, Raconteurs, Against Me!, and !!! are always a good time.

  19. not better than coachella. at all.

  20. Kyle  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

I’ll be heading south just for MMJ and PJ. Jack Johnson’s new album is nowhere near solid enough to pull any kind of headline’n duties. Metallica? Hippies against the kids with long black hair, epic battles across middle Tennessee. That’s the only reason I can come up with why the Roo would invite Metallica. Who wants to eat drugs and catch some late-night Chk Chk CHk?!

  21. annie onymous  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

that line up is a wet dream for me

  22. Anon  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

So this is gonna be the worst festival year ever. yeah?

    Where are MBV and Radiohead?

  23. Chris  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

You fuckers are spoiled. You know how hard it is for someone like me to get to or even afford this shit? Spoiled motherfuckers.

That lineup is awesome. I hate at least half the bands on that list and the lineup is still awesome.

And, listen, I hate Jack Johnson, too. A lot. But there seem to be a few people out there who disagree with me. Just cause you and me want to punch him doesn’t mean booking him is a bad idea. You try running a festival of this size and tell me you’d turn down the chance for him to play.

You posers are just going to go out there and stand still. You’re supposed to go and have fun and fucking dance, even if you don’t like the band. I hate Metallica. But you think I wouldn’t be in that mosh pit?

    Thesis statement: fuck everybody. =)

  26. chad  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

Chris, I think you may have some anger issues, guy.

And to respond to your statement, “You’re supposed to go and have fun and fucking dance, even if you don’t like the band.” that would be a definite NO. I’m thinkin, if I don’t like the band, then I might not be having fun and dancing. Because if I was having fun and dancing, I’d probably like the band….

I took the liberty of running a few of these posts through Babelfish in case some of you out there can’t read crybaby.

Come on guys this is a pretty sweet lineup. All the bands I want to see:
    My Morning Jacket
    The Raconteurs
    Sigur Ros
    The Swell Season
    Gogol Bordello
    BSS
    Lupe
    Solomon Burke
    !!!
    Battles
    Aimee Mann
    fucking Ladytron!
and I’m sure they will add a few others. I mean what do you want that this is missing? My Bloody Valentine? Kevin Shields even admits that they are horrible live. Radiohead? Can’t argue with you there, but they have already headlined Bonnaroo. This is going to be sweet.

  29. Mike  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

    This lineup kicks ass!

  30. chad  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

Poster 11/16=.687, nice one. Especially considering I wasn’t complaining.

  31. Elliot  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

This lineup is NOT better than Coachella. I counted 5 bands here that i would like to see. None of them were Pearl Jam or Metallica. Why don’t they just book Jimmy Ray and Lou Bega and get it all over with?

  32. john  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

I’m pretty psyched. Plus I dont dig any of the headliners so that means smaller crowds and an early ride home on sunday.

  33. Joe  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

    Jesus christ, STFU about Radiohead.

  34. Uh … Jakob Dylan? Seriously?

  35. sean  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

    this lineup suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks.

  36. letdown  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

I am so letdown and I’m not even hard to please. Last years lineup blows this one away.

  37. RYAN AND THE CARDINALS are the only act missing that caught me. otherwise, good festival line-up. they’ll add more as the months wind down too…

  38. Oh, dave!  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

Every year someone is whining about the line-up and how it is going to suck. Well go fuck ya self. If you can’t have fun at this festival, with these bands, then you are lame and I’m glad you won’t be there. Who do you want? Puddle of Mudd? Nickleback? Staind? Hinder? How about you go to Buzz fest then. I dare anybody to find a better line up in the united states. I go every year I can and I always hear great music. Maybe some of you need to do some music research, and realize that there are some great bands playing this festival. If you still think it sucks, then try getting a job where you can pick the bands, otherwise- go fuck ya self.

  39. Logan  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

Not too crazy about Jack Johnson or Metallica but other than that looks good.

Screw the people who say Bonnaroo has “sold out.” Look past the three headliners it looks like a traditional ‘Roo lineup – jam bands and bluegrass.

  40. Syd  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

Pearl Jam sucks ass. Vedder is the most arrogant asshole on the planet. What a fucking rip.

  41. Noah Painter-Davis  |   Posted on Feb 6th, 2008 0

this lineup fucking rocks.eclectic as hell.
and its only the first round. start hydrating and saving dem drugzzzzzz

  42. Ian  |   Posted on Feb 10th, 2008 0

this is awesome! This reminds me of that south park episode where all the hippies are standing around and then they blare slayer “Raining Blood”. If you don’t like the lineup….BETTER LUCK NEXT YEAR! Go check out heavy D and the boys. Enough of this pussy fart music, metallica isn’t what they used to be but they’re still some of the most talented musicians out there so i hope a majority go back to their campsite when metallica comes on

  43. um, 10klf.com. and this will work out well. while all the faggots are at pearl jam, metallica and jack johnson, i can enjoy my phil lesh, allman brothers, umphreys, yonder, derek trucks, robert randolph, willie, bb king, drive-by truckers. and maybe zeppelin can still play, they just dont want tickets to sell out to people who actually want to see the other bands. cant wait for more line-up updates!

  46. alex  |   Posted on Feb 12th, 2008 0

    good music
    john mulaney
    what’s not to love

  47. jacob laxton  |   Posted on Feb 15th, 2008 0

This lineup blows ass. I would rather go to Memphis in May!

  48. seriously this is the best summer festival lineup so far. sigur ros? broken social scene? mastodon? zach galafinakis? quit being to hip to recognize that in the overcrowded festival season bonnaroo still reigns supreme
