In the video for “Holy Holy,” a track from Wye Oak’s album Civilian, the Baltimore duo spends the day at Coney Island, and director Jeremy Johnstone makes that broken-down place look way prettier than it actually is. The whole thing is gorgeously and inventively shot, and singer Jenn Wasner deserves extra props for having the presence of mind to keep lip-syncing even on those fucking terrifying rides. Love this band and song, but poor Jen has a massive lump on her head In some shots in this video. Must’ve whacked it proper good on something and then soldiered on through as if nothing happened! Way to go girl!
