Killa Kyleon

Drowning Pool’s perennially silly “Bodies” belongs next to Korn’s “Blind” and Linkin Park’s “One Step Closer” on the list of secretly awesome hits that the late-’90s/early-’00s nu-metal era gave us. And it’s fun to hear Houston rap animal Killa Kyleon interpolate the song (and credit its authors!) on his new mixtape banger “Bodies Hit The Floor.” The song thankfully has no sampled guitar-crunch. It’s all bottom-heavy synth-rap Lex Luger production, with a grizzled guest verse from Texas rap eminence Bun B, and it gives Kyleon a chance to show why he’s one of rap’s most underrated workhorses at the moment. Watch director Michael Artis’s low-budget video for the track below.

“Bodies Hit The Floor” appears on Kyleon’s new Candy Paint N Texas Plates 2 mixtape, which is up for free download right now.
