Quilt – “Penobska Oakwalk”

By Corban Goble / September 14, 2011

Boston indie-folk outfit Quilt is a band on the rise, and not only because the quartet recently announced they’d put out their debut with tastemaking label Mexican Summer. On songs like “Penobska Oakwalk,” the group creates intricate, spare harmonies that conjure up old-fashioned, freaky folk rock archetypes. A decent comparison would be like-minded folk rockers Woods, although Quilt’s often follow weirder ideas in their own retroactivation of well-tread sounds.
