Capitol Hill Block Party 2009 In Photos
This past weekend, Seattle roped off a couple of blocks on Pike Street to host the Capitol Hill Block Party, inviting everyone from Sonic Youth to Micachu to the Jesus Lizard to help fill out a strong roster of artists. And Speaking of Yow’s iconic band: 13 years ago the Jesus Lizard played the city and terrorized the crowd with his typical stage-diving/crowd-surfing madness, at which point he was banned from playing the city because Seattle authorities don’t like stage-diving/crowd-surfing madness. Qui’s played there since, but this was the Lizard’s first Seattle appearance since being booted over a decade ago. And Yow sailed over the 10′ photo pit gap between the stage and the crowd like five times. Obviously. In addition to the relative heavy hitters at the festival’s official stages, some local talent handpicked by KEXP played sets in the the Caffe Vita coffee bean storage room. Photographer Josh Lovseth hopped between the stages, the coffee bean rooms, and the hot dog dunk tanks for us and brings back this slate of shots.
