Radiohead

Last night, Stephen Colbert dedicated an entire hour-long episode of his television program to Radiohead, his guests. He interviewed them a couple of times, he built his comedy bits loosely around their presence, and he gave them enough stage time to play four songs, plus one more as an online exclusive.

Radiohead brought back the two-drummer lineup they used on Saturday Night Live and generally sounded magnificent. On the show, they did the unreleased track “The Daily Mail,” the King Of Limbs joints “Bloom” and “Little By Little,” and the Kid A classic “The National Anthem.” Watch their entire episode and the online bonus “Codex” below.

Comments section heads! Which Radiohead/Comedy Central crossover worked better: This one, or that one South Park episode?

  1. Even if Colbert wasn’t there to prop up the funny, Thom’s dance moves are good for an hours worth of laughs.

  2. is thom’s gross hair a good enough reason to not watch these videos?

  3. The interviews weren’t even half as awkward as usually. Pretty astounding, Stephen. Also: Props for putting The National Anthem on the setlist.

  4. bloom and magpie sounded really good, getting excited for the tour that im gonna have to pay $400 probably to go see (i am genuinely excited despite the price tag)

  5. ha I love the scott tenorman episode. “What a little crybaby”

  7. I wonder if any of the British groups have every really seen Colbert cause they all seem sort of confused when he has weird questions ready in response to their characteristically weird musician-y answers too stuff. I’m thinking especially of when Albarn was on for Gorillaz and he seemed to have no idea what was going on when Colbert pretended to get angry that the “real” band didn’t show up so he interviewed them as Stephen Colbert (with a hard T). O’brien seemed to get it tho. It was probably good he did most of the talking..

  8. I really hope they were only joking around when Stephen was apologizing for not telling Thom about the shameless Dr. Pepper promotion ahead of time.

    “Bloom” was, indeed, WOW

  9. What’s the point of a ‘funny’ interview if the guests are not in for the joke?

  10. Some of these comments confuse me. To me it seemed plainly obvious that the whole band was in on it, and barely holding onto a straight face the entire time. Of all the shows they could have played, they chose Colbert. They’re British. Satire is in their blood, in their tea and spread all over their crumpets.

    • i’m sure they understood the satire, but it looked like they were struggling with the questions because the issue is still something they are passionate for and wanted to speak vocally about, and stephen was making it a bit hard for them

  12. It’s incredible how these live performances put the album (The King of Limbs) into perspective and help me enjoy it even more.

Now does that mean the album would have been better had they toured with these songs before recording, or does it mean the albums just 2deep4me and i’m just starting to get it.

  13. is anyone experiencing the xxx ads that pop up over the video player when you pause the video?
