EMA has pretty impeccable taste in covers: Robert Johnson, Danzig, Nirvana, “Crimson And Clover.” And on her recent covers, she’s been making like Ethan Hawke in Reality Bites and covering the Violent Femmes’ deathless sexual-frustration anthem “Add It Up,” with added quasi-gypsy violin abuse. Fun fact: The day after I graduated from high school, I watched Virginia hardcore greats Avail cover this song and generally leave a gigantic smoking hole in the ground. Yes, you’re jealous.
