At the end of July, Sam Champion guitarist Sean Sullivan released RINGS, his debut as Sean Bones. When we posted the video for lead track “Dancehall” we mentioned the influence of reggae on Sullivan’s project, though you likely could’ve come to that conclusion on your own. The sweet, sunny-even-if-not-sunny “Turn Them,” his album-closing duet with Norah Jones, is less obviously dubbed-out than that aforementioned, but you’ll clearly hear the island angle. If you’re curious about the pairing (or the reggae), Sullivan stars with Jones in Wah Do Dem, a film set partially in Jamaica. She stars with him in this.

Here’s Sullivan stepping out on Jones and performing the song water/oil tank-side with Merida Rose. It was captured by Sam Fleischner.

RINGS is out via Frenchkiss.

had no idea this was Norah when I first heard it. This song is the late summer Jam.

  4. Merida looks like “I don’t know why I’m singing this song with you. You didn’t ask me to sing it on the record!! Got that heffa Norah Jones instead. Pfft.”
