Chris Martin and Stephen Colbert

Last night, Coldplay were guests on The Colbert Report. Chris Martin, wearing some absurd sneakers and a weird splash of paint on his wrist, sat down with Colbert himself, mostly laughing at Colbert’s jokes but also getting in a pretty funny line about Radiohead: “We are not as good musically, but much more attractive.” (It should be noted that this isn’t entirely true; Radiohead’s O.G. bald drummer is better-looking than Coldplay’s caveman-looking bald drummer.)

On the show, Coldplay performed the big current single “Paradise.” And as a web-only exclusive, they also did the falsetto-heavy Mylo Xyloto deep cut “Up In Flames.” We’ve got the interview and both performances below.

Impressively enough, Coldplay also got up early enough this morning to perform on The Today Show. We’ll have that video up as soon as it hits the internet. UPDATE: Those Today Show performances, which included a bunch of older Coldplay joints as well as new ones, are below now too. Also below, check out a video advertising a pop-up book edition of Mylo Xyloto, which looks nuts.

“We are not as good musically, but much more attractive”

No dout about the first one… But the “more attractive” bid: Say that to Ed O’Brien’s and Johnny Greenwood’s faces, you pansexual imp!

    • i never understood why no matter how humble coldplay is, or the fact that you can tell that theyre very passionate about what they do and aren’t “in it for the money” like say a Lil Wayne or Bieber would be as the members of Coldplay split the money equally, that you can still bag on them. is it really necessary when a singer says himself that hes not nearly as good as another band to reinforce that by saying “no doubt about that” like really? he just said that.

  3. it looks like a tie-dye shirt regurgitated on their Colbert stage set. I guess they discovered neon for the first time recently.

  4. I need a “Mr. World-competition” between two bands’ members to make my final call on the whole “much more attractive”

    For now, Martin’s hair > Yorke’s hair.

  5. what a robotic response machine he is.
