Beavis And Butt-head

It would seem that we’ve already identified this generation’s Winger. The revamped Beavis & Butt-head has only been on TV for a few weeks, but the two television icons have already taken two opportunities to comment on MGMT videos. In episode two, they went in on the Joanna Newsome-starring video for “Kids.” And on episode four, they rendered their verdict on the more recent “It’s Working” clip. It makes sense; Andrew VanWyngarden’s hair may be even higher than Kip Winger’s. Watch both videos below.

Sorry about the audio on the “Kids” clip, but you should be able to hear the jokes just fine if you turn it up loud enough.

  1. I think they mocked IKEA more than MGMT in this video.

“That’s why I stole this couch!” — the truth comes out!

  2. Outside from MTV reality shows, the prime targets for the reboot of Beavis & Butt-head seem to be MGMT, Skrillex and Deadmau5.

  3. if you call mtv-backed endorsement behind thinly-veiled humour ‘mockery’ then yeah.

  4. Did anyone hear Mike Judge on Howard Stern a few weeks ago?
Anyway he’s doing a great job with this 2nd run of Beavis & Butthead.
Nice to see hank hill again too

  5. Beavis’ mom is misunderstood. She also gives an amazing handy.

  6. last week’s episode, thanks stereogum

  7. The new show is killer. Funny that Butthead says “Florida Sucks” while watching a scene filmed in front of the New Orleans Whole Foods. I don’t think the MGMT or recent Edward Sharpe videos were really mocking at all. Feel like there are three different commentaries from B & B: (1) “This song sucks” (2) “This video is weird” (3) These guys kick ass – think they all fall into category 3.

  8. Now I know these tired old eyes ain’t seeing too able-bodied young men just lollygagging.

  9. Nothing was funnier than them watching “It’s So Cold In The D”

  10. They weren’t mocking MGMT at all. The title of this article is misleading and false. MGMT is a fantastic band that is nothing like Winger in any way. Winger was a band full of tools who couldn’t play to save their lives. MGMT is a band that doesn’t give a shit what you have to say about their style. A modern-day equivalent to Winger would be The Offspring.
