Beach House certainly aren’t camera shy. After releasing Devotion, one our ’08 favorites, the Baltimore duo’s showed up with slow fades and soft dissolves for “You Came To Me” and with a shopping cart and treasure map in “Heart Of Chambers.” Here, for melodically rich album standout “Gila” the Jon Leone video’s all about candles (of the standard and skull sort), strobes, black magic, fake blood, Victoria, singing (and speaking in tongues) into the camera with some sorta prayer beads in tote, and Alex ostensibly piloting the River Styx. Or at least some room in Baltimore.

Devotion is out now on Carpark.

CD review: Air
tornadic vocals from Beach House siren Victoria Legrand). Even creepier is “Who Am I Now?”—breathy, vaguely ominous vocals from Brooklyn indie-popsters Au Revoir Simone, trembling strings and a waltz tempo combine to create a nightmarish lullaby.
Stream Air's 'Le Voyage Dans La Lune'
The album is actually double the run time of the 14-minute film, but that's because Air have Beach House's Victoria Legrand and Au Revoir Simone on a couple tracks. Stream it over here. Le Voyage Dans La Lune is due out on Feb. 7.
