Devendra’s a major label artist now, having recently announced his shift from venerable indie XL to even more venerable music biz behemoth Warner Bros for his upcoming What Will We Be LP. Otherwise things are looking similar, dude’s got his beard back and reassembled the Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon backing band on a 14-track album that offers its first studio listen, “Baby,” today over at MySpace. In recorded form it’s not far off from this live take, Dev finding the little joy in transport by choo-choo train and chucking his fears by sharing chuckles with his lady. Slight and breezy, and better than when he was trying to be Jim Morrison. Have a listen.

What Will We Be is out 10/27 via Warner Bros.

  1. I’m not as excited about the new LP as I probably should be.
