White Rabbits - Milk Famous

The Spoon-indebted Brooklyn indie band White Rabbits have a new LP called Milk Famous on the way in March. And below, you can use a widget to download that album’s opening track, “Heavy Metal,” which sounds nothing whatsoever like heavy metal. Those drums are absolutely crispy.

(via Pitchfork)

Milk Famous is out 3/6 on tbd, with the vinyl version out 3/13 on White Iris.

  2. You know, what’s the point of harvesting hundreds of email addresses from people who’ve never heard of you before? Most of them will hate the song within ten seconds. Their email address is worth nothing to you. If you put them on your mailing list, it will have *negative* worth to you, because they’ll be getting spam from a band they don’t even like. So they have to go out of their way to opt out of the mailing list. You’re hassling them when they did YOU a favor by going out of their way to your track a chance.

It’s dumb. Just put the damn MP3 on Pitchfork like everybody else. Ten times as many people will click as will type in an email address and then click a link to download. When people hear the song, if they give a shit, they’ll follow up. If they don’t give a shit, hassling them won’t help. You can’t hard sell music. This is not a vinyl window here.

    What retarded marketing.
