Songs and remixers don’t often pair off this perfectly. As a production duo, Norwegian dance dudes Hans-Peter Lindstrøm and Prins Thomas specialize in a luxuriant, champagne-dipped form of exotica-informed space-disco. And Roxy Music’s mighty 1982 track “Avalon” feels like the most expensive piece of chiffon-lined synth-rock ever recorded. So, naturally, the new Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas remix of “Avalon” is pretty great. Give it a listen below.
The remix comes from a new 12″ single that also features a Todd Terje edit of Roxy’s “Love Is The Drug,” which we already posted. That 12″, out now, celebrates the band’s 40th anniversary, and a new box set will do the same thing. As Prefix reports, Virgin will release the massive Roxy Music: The Complete Studio Recordings 1972-1982 on 4/2. The set includes all eight Roxy albums, as well as rarities and remixes, spread across eight CDs and four DVDs.
