Bjork on Colbert

If you’re going to walk into The Colbert Report with a giant red Brillo-pad wig on, you should expect to become a target. When Björk stopped by the show last night, Colbert could’ve justifiably given her a treatment only slightly more humane than the one she got in Dancer In The Dark. But surprisingly, Colbert took it pretty easy on her, asking her about her iPad apps and Icelandic elves without malice and generally letting Björk be just as adorably weird as always. Björk also got a chance to perform on the show, as a wailing choir and a guy operating touchscreen doohickeys backed her up on “Cosmogony.” Watch the interview and the performance below.

Björk’s album Biophilia is out now on Nonesuch.

  1. Still haven’t heard the album even though I’ve been meaning to. Enjoyed the interview/performance. I haven’t watched Colbert in a long time sadly, but it is always a good time whenever I catch pieces.

    • The album is great, though far more intimate than perhaps was expected given the bombast of the concept, which may have worked against its initial reception in some places. It’s a good “alone in the dark with headphones” listen especially since there’s a whole lot of low end that’s missing if you’re not listening to it on a good speaker system or with headphones. (end unsolicited opinion) (hooray for Björk)
