King cakes are a great way to indulge before Lent
At first sight, it comes across as, well, a little unusual. A large wreath-shaped cake bedazzled in vibrant shades of purple, green and gold — there's nothing subtle about it. It might be flavored simply with a touch of cinnamon sugar, or ...

Interestingly…the guitar line is the original melody from the sample source, Daydream by Wallace Collection – more prominently sampled by the Beta Band on Squares.

    I’ll stop now.

  2. Ooh… which guitar line?

  3. such a great record, just wish they’d tour to the US

  4. just another crazed fan comment for you: every time i think you couldn’t be any cooler, you prove me wrong. koc deserves way more appreciation. thanks for the covers!

It’s sad that they still haven’t announced a US tour for this album. My sister’s in Italy and she totally gets to go see them. I hate her. Their SF show a few years back was one of the best concerts I’ve been to.

  6. Thanks, Scott. KoC deserves all the props they get, Erlend Øye is simply one of music’s greatest treasures.

  7. You simply MUST seek out their cover of “Once Around The Block”! It’s awesome… much better than the Magnetic Fields cover (although perhaps I just love the original too much). By the way, as far as something “more upbeat” goes, I’d sooner recommend the outstanding remixes album “Versus” than the DJ Kicks, not that that isn’t also great.
