Smugglers Way zine

For Record Store Day (April 21), Domino and Ribbon will put out the multi-media Smugglers Way Flexi-Disc Zine, a release that combines a 24-page zine with five flexi discs of unreleased material by the likes of Real Estate, Dirty Projectors, Cass McCombs, John Maus and Villagers. The zine is put together by artists from those labels’ rosters, people like the Kills’ Alison Mossheart, Laura Marling and Lower Dens’ Jana Hunter. The cover is up top, and it was created by Black Dice’s Bjorn Copeland (who was recently featured in our Progress Report series). More info here. Listen to Real Estate’s contribution, “In My Car,” below.

Smugglers Way is out 4/21 via Ribbon/Domino.

  1. Damn, looks like I better close up shop on the blogging game and hop on the zine / Flexidisc bandwagon if I want to maintain fake relevance in the independent music news spectrum.

donnytilla, can you offer up some artwork for the first issue?
djfreshié, can you write a poem on how seagulls that symbolizes the recording quality in today’s cold wave scene?
Michael Robenalt, can you write something that everyone will love that is both rational and unintentionally funny?
