Lily Allen – “Who’d Have Known”

By Amrit Singh / October 19, 2009 - 9:17 am

You might remember when, last September at London’s GQ Man Of The Year Honors show, Lily was tipsy and got into a barb-throwing spat with Elton John at the podium: The Brit queen chastised Allen for being drunk, Lily responded in essence fuck you very much, I’m 40 years younger than you, to which Elton retorted, “I could still snort you under the table.” Zing? Well Lily’s always up for some meta-cheekiness, and this is no exception. In this clip she kidnaps (an actor playing the part of) the piano man and takes him back to her place, ties him up and makes him tell the world that in fact he’s deeply in love with her under only a slight state of creepy duress. Elton’s been down this road before with a witty young thing, so consider the stage set for an awkward Grammys collaboration. And let’s just say that, after this video, the previous bit of trivia about this track — that it samples Take That’s “Shine” — is now only the second most interesting thing about it.

It’s Not Me, It’s You is out.
