For the time being, Lee Ranaldo is still a member of Sonic Youth, though god knows how long that’ll last. Rumor has it that they’ll play their last-ever show at this summer’s Lollapalooza. We’ll see. In the meantime, Ranaldo has a solo album called Between The Times And The Tides coming out soon. It features contributions from SY drummer Steve Shelly and fellow avant-rock luminaries like Jim O’Rourke and Nels Cline, and we’ve posted the video for “Off The Wall.” Right now, the entire LP is streaming at Rolling Stone. There was indeed a rumor that SY’s last show would be at Lollapalooza, but then the dude who put together that supposed-leaked lineup came forward that he was b.s.-ing the world. If it actually happens, he’ll either have been lying about lying or will have made one lucky guess.
