Japandroids - Celebration Rock

In the buildup to Japandroids’ new album, Celebration Rock, the duo has been playing some awesome-sounding new stuff, so it’s no surprise that the new single, “The House That Heaven Built,” also channels that soaring, anthemic energy. 1. Today is freaking amazing with new songs. My brain can barely contain it all, and now this — I think it’s in overdrive. What I’ve always loved about Japandroids is how they deliver that feeling of nostalgia from your best, carefree days of your late teens and early 20s and stuff into these anthems that collide with your present-day responsible “adult” self. It says, “Fuck it” and keeps me trudging along despite the fact everyone around is me getting old and boring.

    • Weird coincidence on top of all this, but I had a dream last night that Japandroids played a show on my neighbor’s lawn, so I’m racking this one up as “meant to be.”

  2. This song is so good. Thanks for reminding me to get tickets to their SF show.

  3. They always make me want to drink beer and play soccer in the park

  4. Post-Nothing was the perfect album to soundtrack the end of my senior year of high school. Sounds like this one’s gonna be the perfect album to soundtrack my senior year of college!

  5. Really happy, this sounds great.
Also, the graphic designer in me in stoked about the continually awesome album covers.

  6. nice to read through a comment section of all positive comments… the song is rad too!

    WELL DONE ALL AROUND

  7. fuck yes, this song rules

  8. I’m usually not into this type of stuff, but Japandroids have always been different for me. “Wet Hair” was just a perfect song in my mind. Nothing captured the excitement of youth more than that song. GAH I just love these dudes.

  9. Did anyone else nearly destroy their kitchen to this song or was that just me?
