The Walkmen Heaven Details

By Tom Breihan / March 29, 2012 - 12:28 pm

Earlier this month, great New York indie wailers the Walkmen posted a goofy medley of U2 covers, which they’d apparently recorded in a delirious burst of energy to celebrate the fact that they were done recording their new album. Then, literally minutes after we were done putting together our Most Anticipated Albums list, the band announced its plans to release new LP Heaven, the follow-up to 2010’s excellent Lisbon.

As Pitchfork reports, they recorded the album with producer Phil Ek, and Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold guests on the song “No One Ever Sleeps.” Other new song titles: “We Can’t Be Beat,” “Song For Leigh,” “Heartbreaker,” “Love Is Luck.” Below, we’ve got a two-minute trailer for the album, set to a mostly-wordless clip of music so beautiful that it literally gave me goosebumps.

Heaven is out 6/5 on Fat Possum/Bella Union. Check out our Progress Report interview with the band.
