There are only two possible explanations for that photo. One is intentional malice. That is the explanation favored by Rabbi Marvin Hier of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles. That picture, he told The Associated Press, is “beyond the ...

  1. JUST LET HIM GO BACK TO THE DAILY SHOW

    PLZ

    KTHX

  2. Well, if it’s gonna be anybody, Steve would be a fine choice. Although, honestly, NBC should just BUY the ORIGINAL SHOW and air THAT.

Mark my words: the American Office will be dreadful. You can’t just rewrite a comedy for a different audience and then throw in a handful of supposed comedians. The Office works so well because its star, Ricky Gervais, is also its screenwriter and its producer, and knew exactly who he wanted to act alongside.

  4. i’m sure steve carell will be just as smarmy. but it can’t as funny, it’s just inspired by.

from the start he’s better looking than ricky gervais. i wonder if he will use all the same mannerisms? flinching, stroking his tie.

have i mentioned i love the office!?!??

  5. Mike Judge (Office Space)has some involvement in this as well. In fact, Gervais and Merchant have cited Office Space as one of their references when they were creating the series.

i gave ‘the office’ dvds to marcus for x-mas… i think it was the whole first season; he loves it. i’ve only seen a few episodes myself, but i highly enjoyed ‘em!

  8. about NBC or ANYONE airing the original….a resounding YES! For heaven’s sake, learn from the Coupling disaster and move on. Why do we always think we have to f’ing ‘Americanize’ everything.

It’s a classic and should be left alone!! urgh!
    [sorry for the rant]

  9. I’m willing to give it a chance as long as Gervais remains involved. It will be worse but that doesn’t mean it will be awful.

I’ll probably say that until about 5 seconds into the first episode.

I’ve read that Gervais isn’t going to have any involvement in the US version. So watch at your own risk.
